Gumball 3000 Rally – Riga to Mykonos 2017

Gumball 3000The Gumball 3000 Rally is back for 2017 (July 1st – 8th) and this year it will run from Riga, the capital of Latvia to the beautiful Greek island of Mykonos. The Rally’s return sees a carnival of “skateboarders, musicians, DJs, celebrity personalities, entrepreneurs, drivers and a mix of eclectic characters gather together for a week of spectacular driving, memorable dinners and unforgettable Gumball parties.”

At Titanium Luxury Hire we have already had a number of enquiries from clients who want to be part of this incredible event where drivers arrive in a mix of motors including supercars, hypercars, classic models and some that are truly unique. The Rally will be travelling through the unbelievably scenic cities of Warsaw, Budapest and Dubrovnik, then proceeding through Tirana and Athens before reaching their final destination: the exquisite Island of Mykonos in Greece.

Gumball 3000 Rally Main Cars

For the Gumball 3000 Rally main drivers, who will be announced one by one as they depart from the Riga starting grid on Sunday 1st July, Titanium Luxury Hire recommends hiring from the following models to take you the 4,500km of the rally in style: the Aston Martin Vantage remains one of the most iconic high-performance sports cars, or there is always the McLaren 650s Spider with a drop top for those sunny days.

If you’ve always wanted to drive a Ferrari, where better than Gumball 3000 and we would suggest the Ferrari 488 from our range. Alternatively, a Lamborghini Huracan will give you a slick ride down the rally’s route. Both will give you a lot of fun and make your heart beat faster. Alternatively, you can stand out from the crowd in one of our Maseratis. The Maserati Gran Turismo combines class with a sporty performance and it has space for four people. Alternatively, if you like to get the roof down now and again, the Maserati Gran Cabrio Sport is an ideal model.

Gumball 3000 Rally Support Cars

We know that many people like to follow the rally drivers in support cars and we also have the perfect luxury vehicles for the role. Titanium Luxury Hire can offer you a luxury SUV from our Range Rover collection. Alternatively, the powerful and sleek Bentley Bentayga will take you all the way from Latvia to Greece in luxury and comfort. And, for larger parties, we’d recommend the 8-seater Mercedes V Class.

These are just a few of our suggestions: we have many more luxury vehicles for you to choose from. The Gumball 3000 Rally is an unmissable event – Contact Titanium Luxury Hire today and reserve the perfect luxury car for this exciting drive.

Car of the Week – Lamborghini Gallardo LP560

If you want to stand out at the Gumball 3000 rally this year, hire our Lamborghini Gallardo LP560. We’ll be bringing you more information about Gumball 3000 from Riga in Latvia to Mykonos in Greece later this week and more suggestions for participating cars and support cars that you can hire from Titanium Luxury Hire. In the meantime, let’s see what the experts have to say about this stunning Lambo.

“The Gallardo LP560 is the cleanest, most economical and ecologically efficient car that Lamborghini has ever produced.” Autocar UK

“It feels unbelievably special to drive, too: the 552bhp V10 has a richly layered, guttural roar, and time hasn’t tempered the savagery with which it fires you down the road. No turbos here, remember, so the throttle response is utterly incisive, every flex of your foot met with an immediate, precision-metered response. The four-wheel drive system makes the Gallardo’s limits incredibly high on a dry road. Brake deep into a tighter corner and you’ll feel the front tyres starting to slip, while a subsequent push on the throttle will allow the rear a tiny bit of attitude before slingshotting you down the next straight.” Car UK

“The Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 looks every inch the supercar, and it has the perfomance to back it up. Peer beneath the car’s glass engine cover and you’ll spot the mighty 552bhp 5.2-litre V10 powerplant. Mated to a permanent four-wheel drive system it serves-up scintillating performance, with the Coupe model able to scorch from 0-60mph in just 3.7 seconds, and on to a top speed of 202mph. Such incredible performance needs a suitably spine-tingling sound track – and the Lambo doesn’t disappoint, with a guttural low-rev bark that turns into an addictive howl as speeds rises.” AutoExpress UK

“Audi’s ownership of Lamborghini is evidenced in the Gallardo’s superlative fit and finish, with a few upgraded materials sprinkled throughout, such as a new steering wheel and a row of gleaming metal window toggles. It is undeniably a premium-feeling environment.” Car and Driver USA

The New Mercedes GT Roadster

Mercedes RoadsterThe Mercedes E63 AMG is a pretty spectacular saloon and it has proved very popular with our clients looking for a luxury touring car for travelling around Europe’s top destinations. Titanium Luxury Hire delivers to Europe’s major cities and we’ll happily bring one of our prestigious rental cars to your hotel, or meet you at the airport. Now, Mercedes-AMG has launched the Mercedes GT Roadster, a drophead version of the GT coupé, which will come to the market in summer 2017 and there is plenty to look forward to.

The Mercedes GT Roadster will come in two versions: the 470bhp and the 550bhp. The latter has a “a wider body to accommodate larger wheels, tyres and increased track, an electronic limited-slip differential and electronically adjustable dampers,” reports Andrew English, motoring correspondent at the The Telegraph UK.

Mercedes hosted the test drive and launch for the press in the Arizona desert to allow the car to showcase its aptitude for speed. The speed limit on interstate roads is 65mph, hence the need to take the car off the road and onto a desert highway. This Mercedes GT Roadster can reach 65mph in about four seconds and its 4.0-lite biturbo V8 engine achieves a top speed of around 200mph/322kmh, which would certainly bring you to the attention of the Highway Patrol if you were to go all out on a road. The press who were present at the event commented that the car never appeared to be daunted by any change in track conditions, even when confronted with light snow, and seemed to be “champing at the bit to go even faster.”

It is an attractive car as well, inside and out. The carbon fibre and aluminium structure, fitted with a suede interior has a cabin with twin-dial instrument binnacle and rows of virtually identical piano-key switches. It isn’t exactly spacious inside, but the boot will carry at least a couple of largish, soft bags. The V8 engine makes its typical noise whilst warming up, before the stop-start system closes it down. Andrew English remarked of it: “Rev it and it sounds like you pushed a couple of bricks into the final spin cycle of your washing machine. This car is all latent bombast and portent; it sends a chill down your spine.” He also pointed out that the Mercedes GT Roadster Is “a deliciously old-fashioned idea; a big front-engined gran turismo, an American muscle car, with all the charisma and drawbacks that entails, but pretty hard not to love.”

While we wait for this new Mercedes to appear, you can browse our selection of Mercedes AMG luxury motors and select the perfect one for your holiday or business trip in Europe.

Car of the Week – Mercedes E Class Cabrio

Red MercedesThe Mercedes E Class Cabrio has stunning looks and is the perfect luxury car to enjoy driving through Europe in the glorious springtime weather. At Titanium Luxury Hire we love this fine example of open-top motoring and urge you to book one now!

“The technology is the E-Class’ big selling point though, with items like Mercedes’ Drive Pilot semi-autonomous technology and smartphone-controlled remote parking system showcasing the best that the brand can do.” AutoExpress UK

“The sun lies low on the desert horizon, the trees and cactuses are throwing long shadows, and the landscape is doused with warm light. In less than 20 seconds, the softtop disappears behind the rear seats, and the engine—barely perceptible—springs to life. The newest E-class, it seems to us, could be a relaxed and elegant choice among luxury droptops.” Jens Meiners Car and Driver USA

“Sitting in the back of a drop-top is often as enjoyable as going for a stroll in a hurricane, but things are different in the E-Class thanks to a clever contraption called Aircap. It’s essentially a combination of a small flap on top of the windscreen and a deflector between the rear seats, which both raise to direct air over the cabin (rather than into it). The engines are pretty smooth and hushed, and wind noise isn’t too bad with the hood up, either.” What Car?

“The Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet is a comfortable four-seat convertible that harks back to the classy Mercedes models of old. Quite why the firm tries to deny this lineage is unclear, as in many ways the cars boast a clear and distinct relationship.” Parkers UK

“The E-Class is a reassuring, rewarding car to drive. The “Agility Control sports suspension” guarantees smooth progress on all but the worst surfaces, while the steering reacts faithfully and tells you what’s going on.” Leo Wilkinson The Telegraph UK

The Luxury Electric Bentley EXP

All electric BentleyAs each week passes, we are beginning to see more and more electric automobiles, but we didn’t anticipate that Bentley, one of the world’s most luxury marques, would get in on the electric sector quite so soon. However, it is undoubtedly true that the all-electric Bentley EXP 12 Speed 6E (hopefully shortened to the Bentley EXP when it comes to market) was one of the most talked about concept cars at the recent Geneva Motor Show. And it’s a convertible as well.

Remarkably, the Bentley EXP has a “high-performance” electric powertrain with a potential range of 310 miles, or almost 500 km. The luxury car’s specifications also state that it will have rapid inductive charging and “state-of-the-art, on-board concierge-style services” available at the push of a button, or rather the tap of a screen. Its interior console is a single, solid section of curved glass and a high definition OLED display. And, adding that extra layer of the kind of luxurious finish one expects from Bentley, there are handmade, cut-glass sections on the steering wheel contain controls for media, communications, navigation and car set-up.

One of the Bentley EXP’s most admired features amongst visitors to the Geneva Motor Show is the button at the top of the cut-away steering wheel. This button, with its “rocket” icon, instantly boosts performance. Plus, passengers have their own control panel on the front fascia to access social media, email and entertainment. It sounds like exceedingly good fun for both driver and passenger.

The element of copper is a uniting theme throughout the concept car and refers to its electrical elements. There is copper around the gear selector, Bentley Dynamic Drive dial and in the veneer door panels. Furthermore, the copper motif continues on the sweeping exterior design, too, which was crafted by John Paul Gregory, Bentley’s head of exterior design.

Interestingly, most all-electric cars dispense with front cooling vents, but because that can look rather alien, Bentley has opted to retain the grille, and has added a 3D geometric design and copper highlights. Although, the grill is redundant, Bentley has turned it into a feature and when the car is running the “6e” logo illuminates from behind the grille.

The twin bonnet scoops supply additional cooling to the battery and powertrain, whilst the wing mirrors are replaced with cameras. And, you can, in theory, drive between London and Paris or Milan and Monaco on a single charge thanks to the rapid inductive charging system. So far, Bentley has not said that it will definitely produce the Bentley EXP and is waiting for feedback on it. However, it will launch a Bentley Bentayga plug-in hybrid in 2018. So, we can all look forward to that.

But, you can hire a luxury Bentley from Titanium Luxury Hire today.
